Tray Table

The Tray Table from HAY is built on a straightforward concept: combining a traditional side table with a removable serving tray. Made from durable powder-coated steel, the design is stripped back to the basics. A slender, geometric wire frame securely holds the solid metal tray on top without the need for any hardware, clamps, or hinges. The main draw is how it handles daily routines. Instead of awkwardly balancing mugs or plates on your way to the sofa, you can simply lift the top off the base, load it up in the kitchen, and set it right back down. The raised rim ensures that minor spills or small items like keys and remotes stay contained rather than sliding onto the floor. Because the base is an open cube, the table doesn't look heavy or block sightlines. Crucially, HAY produces the Tray Table in several different sizes—ranging from small bedside squares to wider, rectangular coffee table dimensions. This allows you to use a single compact table in a tight corner, or group multiple sizes together to create a tiered, overlapping centerpiece. It is a highly flexible, hardworking piece of furniture that prioritizes everyday utility.
