Niclas Hoflin

Swedish designer Niclas Hoflin is renowned for his uncompromising dedication to local craftsmanship, timeless mechanics, and honest materials. Driven by an obsession with how light defines human emotion and physical space, Hoflin founded the celebrated Swedish lighting brand RUBN in 2010. That same year, he anchored his production locally by acquiring the historic Luxus factory in Vittsjö, preserving generations of regional metalworking and glassblowing expertise. Working primarily with solid brass, steel, and mouth-blown glass, Hoflin prototypes every fixture by hand to ensure structural longevity and seamless operation. His acclaimed luminaires include the linear Long John pendant suspended from leather straps, the architectonic Lektor task series, the versatile Miller lamp, and the sculptural Hunter and Astoria designs.
