The Copenhagen Admiral Hotel, transformed in a major interior modernization by interior design studio FRAME and Arkitema, is a maritime-industrial retreat housed in a monumental 1787 waterfront warehouse that formerly served as a royal drying house for grain and pomace. The interior narrative themed Maritime Heritage and Nordic Craft explores the tension between historic harbor utility and modern Danish luxury by blending hand-hewn eighteenth-century timber with tactile Scandinavian elegance.

The hotel features three hundred and sixty-six rooms split into highly individualized architectural layouts shaped by the colossal interior wooden superstructure. Superior Rooms draw inspiration from nautical minimalism with bespoke platform beds utilizing the irregular spacing of historic Pomeranian pine beams alongside muted sound-dampening textiles. The Waterfront Suites celebrate panoramic harbor views through open living areas along with direct vistas of the Copenhagen Opera House and dramatic exposed brick archways.

Public spaces are designed as an open, gallery-like showcase of naval scale with the lobby featuring striking custom light installations suspended between ancient timber columns as a nod to the building's maritime trading past. Specialized social zones include the celebrated restaurant SALT for Nordic culinary gatherings and the waterfront terrace which is a vibrant urban nook filled with outdoor lounge seating overlooking the inner harbor canal.

The furniture is a mix of custom Danish woodwork and contemporary designer pieces with most headboards, integrated desks, and ambient floor lamps custom-designed specifically for this site. A notable collaboration with local craftsmen features lounge chairs produced in natural leather and blackened steel frames exclusive to this property while bespoke integrated bathroom fixtures were developed to fit seamlessly within the historic brick nooks.

The design utilizes raw coastal tones such as warm driftwood, maritime navy, slate grey, and burnt brick across natural wood stains and tactile upholstery. Original eighteenth-century architectural features are preserved throughout the property including over two hundred structural wood pillars and massive timber trusses bearing the original carpentry marks of Copenhagen’s harbor builders. The soaring central atrium lounge serves as a welcoming gathering hub for guests while rough Pomeranian pine meets honed stone, polished brass accents, and fine wool drapery to emphasize a diverse material mix.
