The tale of Søstrene Grene starts in 1973 in Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, when the wife and husband team of Inger Grene and Knud Cresten Vaupell Olsen opened a store which turned out to be one of a kind.With a history in fashion and ballet and a love of classical music, the couple set out to create a store concept that artfully combined music, beautiful product displays, and storytelling. The ambition was to offer a small break from everyday life and delve into a moment of 'hygge' - and to this day, it still is.Today, the company is owned and run by the second generation of the Grene family, the brothers Mikkel and Cresten Grene. During the past 50 years, Søstrene Grene has grown to count more than 278 stores across 16 European countries and several webshops - and the family keeps growing.
