Description

The Ninotchka 125 Wall Lamp by LYFA is an iconic Scandinavian masterpiece originally envisioned by legendary lighting pioneer Bent Karlby in 1954 and beautifully reimagined for modern vertical surfaces. Drawing fascinating inspiration from popular culture, Karlby derived the lamp's distinct identity from an eye-catching, asymmetrical hat worn by Swedish Hollywood star Greta Garbo in her famous 1939 film, Ninotchka. This translation of fashion into functional art features an organic, fluidly draped steel body that manages a flawless balance between playful expression and architectural precision. Originally re-engineered as an exclusive wall-mounted variant for the luxury Ottilia Heritage hotel in Copenhagen, the fixture cleverly splits its illumination into two distinct directions. Its open asymmetric form delivers a functional, direct downlight to guide steps while simultaneously emitting a soft, diffuse upward ambient glow, creating a remarkably warm and balanced lightscape without causing glare. Measuring 12.5 cm wide, 11 cm deep, and 22.5 cm high, this compact, lightweight steel fixture operates with a G9 bulb socket and is available in a refined, minimalist palette of monochrome matte black or matte white finishes. Meeting strict contract-grade requirements, this timeless design serves as a striking visual anchor that effortlessly injects dramatic 1950s character and serene atmosphere into contemporary corridors, luxury bedroom suites, and intimate hospitality spaces alike
