ARoS Aarhus Art Museum

The ARoS cube, characterized by its sharp edges, undergoes a vertical incision known as the 'museum street,' a gracefully curved, glass-covered section. This vertical cut aligns with a horizontal slice on the east facade, fostering a dynamic interplay between the interior and the surrounding urban and park landscapes. Long ramps further augment the context, seamlessly connecting the museum with its environment.

From both the north and south, two ramps guide individuals into a well-lit reception area. Here, a grand spiral staircase and two elevators serve as conduits, facilitating access to the various art and service departments within the ten-story structure.

Within the naturally illuminated 'museum street,' balconies and ramps function as vital links, fostering both circulation and scenic perspectives throughout the building. On one side of this vibrant thoroughfare, you'll find exhibition galleries, while on the opposite side, administration offices, lecture rooms, a library, and a shop are strategically positioned. The occupiable roof offers a café, terrace, and sculpture garden that afford captivating views of the city.
