Le Roi Chair

The Le Roi Chair designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl for NORR11 is a sculptural lounge piece that merges French colonial influence with Scandinavian minimalism. Its name, meaning "The King" in French, reflects its regal yet understated presence. The design is centered on a series of translucent surfaces created by handwoven French rattan inlaid into a solid wood frame. This combination of tactile rattan and fluid wooden lines highlights the beauty of simple, honest construction while creating a sense of weightlessness. The frame is crafted from FSC-certified solid ash or oak, often treated with water-based lacquers to maintain the wood’s natural texture and ensure sustainable production. A distinctive feature of the chair is its unconventional armrests, which are positioned high and reclined outwards to enhance its welcoming, open silhouette. The seat is spacious and low-slung, making it a functional addition to lounge areas, living rooms, or bedrooms. Dimensions are 84.5 centimeters wide, 76 centimeters deep, and 72 centimeters high, with a seat height of 35 centimeters. The chair is available in natural or dark smoked finishes and can be further customized with optional loose seat cushions in linen or leather.
