Cestita Alubat Portable Table Lamp

Operating as a fully untethered, weatherproof architectural lantern, the Cestita Alubat by Santa & Cole translates Miguel Milá’s classic mid-century basket structure into a strict aluminum matrix. By replacing the traditional steam-bent cherry wood with heavy-duty extruded aluminum—typically finished in stark black or olive green—the fixture gains immense structural rigidity while keeping its physical mass exceptionally light. Measuring just 22 centimeters in diameter and 36 centimeters high to the top of its rigid handle, it maintains a highly condensed footprint explicitly engineered to be carried by hand and deposited anywhere from a tight indoor bookshelf to an exposed garden terrace. At the core of its mechanical logic is a stark physical separation between the protective skeletal housing and the central luminous volume. Rather than utilizing a fragile glass orb, the light is diffused through a seamless, sealed polyethylene globe that rests tightly within the curved metal ribbons. This synthetic sphere functions mechanically to intercept the internal LED output, scattering a completely uniform, omnidirectional glow while physically shielding the delicate electronic components from accidental impact and heavy rainfall. Severing its reliance on static wall outlets, the lamp integrates a high-capacity, rechargeable lithium battery directly into its sealed lower base plate. This internal power source is governed by a discreet tactile dimmer, allowing the user to precisely modulate the light intensity across multiple output levels to match the immediate environment. Stripped of trailing cords, breakable glass components, or delicate varnishes, the Cestita Alubat is a highly kinetic, hardworking fixture that relies entirely on structural portability and uncompromising material durability to deliver illumination exactly where the user moves.
