Scandic Hotel Aarhus City opened the all new and yet old hotel in 2012 and chose Bonnelycke MDD to design practically everything “between and on walls” in their new city hotel.

Bonnelycke MDD approached the project with huge respect to the old Østergades Hotel by keeping the old hotel's original levels to gain an immediate roomy charm, often difficult to create in a new “effective-one-level-fits-all” building.

Additionally Bonnelycke MDD photographed many of the historic details from the old hotel, which have later been used as wall decorations, these are then complimented by Aarhus photographs by Mogens Laier. Even the original cast iron columns were reused in the new à la carte restaurant.
