Danish entrepreneur and designer Peter J. Lassen (1930–2019) redefined modern storage by placing individuality and spatial flexibility at the heart of interior design. After serving in the Danish Navy, Lassen entered the furniture industry in 1954 at Fritz Hansen, where he rose to CEO and collaborated closely with masters like Arne Jacobsen and Verner Panton. In 1982, Lassen founded Montana Furniture on the principle that personal freedom should dictate domestic space. He introduced the groundbreaking Montana System, a modular 12 mm lacquered MDF grid with rounded edges and recessed fronts. Paired with a rich color palette, the system allows endless configurations. In 2004, he created the three-dimensional GRID system, extending his modular vision to open-ended architectural spaces.
