Swedish designer and interior architect Jonas Bohlin is a seminal figure in contemporary Scandinavian design, celebrated for challenging Nordic functionalism with emotional depth, industrial materials, and artistic provocation. Graduating from Konstfack in 1981, Bohlin shocked the design world with his graduation project, the Concrete chair—a radical, minimalist sculpture of raw concrete and steel that ignited debates on the boundary between art and furniture. Bohlin went on to define Swedish spatial and product design over four decades, founding his own studio and collaborating with leading Scandinavian manufacturers including Källemo and Örsjö Belysning. For Örsjö, he conceived the iconic Kvist chandelier—an organic brass and copper tree branch that reinterprets traditional chandeliers—as well as the graceful Star lighting system.
