STRAP Lounge Armchair
The Strap Lounge Armchair from OX Denmarq takes a strictly minimalist, skeletal approach to a dedicated seating format. Designed by Dennis Marquart, it entirely bypasses bulky foam padding and solid wooden shells. Instead, it relies on an open framework of powder-coated or stainless steel. Measuring 62 centimeters wide, 59 centimeters deep, and 77 centimeters tall, it maintains a highly condensed footprint for an armchair. This wire-like, transparent profile allows it to provide generous lounge seating in tight apartment living rooms or narrow corners without visually dominating the floor plan or blocking sightlines across a room.
The structural core of the chair is its upholstery. The seat and backrest are formed from thick, 3-millimeter vegetable-tanned aniline leather, tightly slung directly over the metal frame. This heavy-gauge leather functions mechanically, providing immediate tension and structural support. Rather than relying on internal springs or thick cushions, the material naturally contours to the user's body under physical weight, creating a comfortable, ergonomic pocket. To handle the stress of daily use, the slender steel frame is reinforced with intersecting crossbars, ensuring the chair remains highly rigid and stable without adding unnecessary visual bulk.
Because the aniline leather is left largely unsealed, it demands a pragmatic approach to ownership. Available in elemental tones like cognac, hazelnut, mocca, and deep black, the organic surface is actively meant to change. It is built to absorb natural oils, direct sunlight, and friction, intentionally developing a heavy, darkened patina over years of use. Stripped of decorative trim or complicated hardware, it is a quiet, hardworking fixture that relies entirely on raw material strength and straightforward construction to anchor a seating area.
