9209 Table Lamp

GUBI’s Tynell 9209 table lamp stands as one of Paavo Tynell’s iconic masterpieces. Also known as “Kypärä”, Finnish for helmet, the lamp derives its nickname from its half-sphere-shaped brass shade adorned with Tynell’s signature, handcrafted triangular perforations that turn into starlight-like sparkles when the light is on. Resting on a molded brass base, a gracefully arching stem handwoven in rattan complements the lamp’s unique look. Originally introduced in 1940, the 9209 table lamp shares a resemblance to Tynell’s Shell lamp 5321, boasting similar forms, materials and proportions. Originally produced by the Finnish company Oy Taito Ab, the luminaire is now part of the Paavo Tynell collection under the Danish design brand GUBI.
