Marcello Ziliani

Italian architect and industrial designer Marcello Ziliani (b. 1963) is celebrated for an inventive, technology-driven approach that pairs structural lightness with ergonomic performance. Graduating in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1988 with Achille Castiglioni as his thesis advisor, Ziliani approaches industrial products with rigorous manufacturing discipline. Ziliani has authored prolific contract and residential seating systems for premier European manufacturers. For Italian brand Scab Design, he created the acclaimed Lisa and Lady B seating collections, alongside the biophilic Si-Si outdoor chair system with reversible seats and backrests. His work for Casprini, Flos, and Infiniti explores injection-molded polymers, recycled polypropylenes, and slender steel frames engineered for effortless stacking and compact shipping.
