Anatomy Design

Johannesburg-based studio Anatomy Design—founded in 2010 by Megan Hesse and Andrea Kleinloog—is celebrated for bringing an evocative, narrative-led perspective to contemporary interiors and lighting. Emerging from an interior architecture background, the duo develops furniture and objects that balance historical references with honest, tactile materials. The studio achieved global acclaim through its partnership with Danish design brand &Tradition. For &Tradition, they created the award-winning Tripod Lamp (HM8 and HM9), a sculptural luminaire inspired by early European modernism that balances a slender three-legged steel base with a spun-aluminum shade. Their work spans custom timber joinery, cast bronze, and bespoke installations across South Africa and Europe.
