Tove Kindt Larsen
Danish architect and furniture designer Tove Kindt-Larsen (1906–1994)—working independently and in lifelong collaboration with her husband Edvard Kindt-Larsen—was one of the pioneering women of Danish Modernism. Trained under Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, she introduced gentle curves, wicker weaving, and sensual softness to Klint’s rigid anthropometrics. Kindt-Larsen achieved international acclaim through long-term partnerships with master cabinetmaker A.J. Iversen and seating maker France & Søn. Her crowning triumph is the Pagode Sofa (1956), reissued today by Audo Copenhagen, alongside the Fireside Chair and organic wicker screens for R. Wengler. As regular exhibitors at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild exhibitions, the duo set the tone for Danish living, prioritizing contrast between warm teak and light textiles.
