Hans-Christian Bauer
Norwegian-born, Copenhagen-based industrial designer and ceramist Hans-Christian Bauer (b. 1980) is recognized for an understated, material-driven approach that balances warmth, graphic clarity, and functional ergonomics. Graduating in architecture and industrial design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Bauer established his Copenhagen studio in 2012. Bauer achieved international recognition through a celebrated partnership with historic Danish ceramics house Kähler. For Kähler, he conceived the iconic Hammershøi tableware and homeware collection—a contemporary tribute to the historic grooved ceramic works of early 20th-century artist Svend Hammershøi. His portfolio balances delicate fluted ceramic dinnerware, glassware, and wooden kitchen accessories, alongside lighting collections for brands like Normann Copenhagen.
