Gino Sarfatti
Venice born master Gino Sarfatti stands among the most brilliant pioneers of twentieth century lighting design. Trained in aeronautical engineering before cofounding the legendary lighting manufacturer Arteluce in Milan in 1939, Sarfatti approached illumination not as decorative styling, but as a dynamic interplay between light sources, industrial mechanics, and living space. Over four prolific decades, Sarfatti conceived over six hundred distinct fixtures, embracing new bulb technologies long before his contemporaries. His iconic masterworks, championed today by Astep and Flos, include the monumental chandelier Model 2097, which reimagines classic Murano chandeliers through exposed brass arms and candelabra bulbs, alongside the minimalist Model 548 table lamp and the counterweighted Model 1063 floor lamp.
