David Geckeler
German industrial designer David Geckeler is recognized for an analytical, detail-driven approach that reinterprets traditional woodworking typologies through a modern lens. Educated at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and the Berlin University of the Arts, Geckeler works from Berlin across furniture, lighting, and interior objects. Geckeler achieved international acclaim with the celebrated Nerd Chair (2012) for Danish design house Muuto, which won the Muuto Talent Award and Beckers International Design Award. Defined by its seamless joint between form-pressed veneer and solid wood, the design extends into a bestselling family of dining chairs, counter stools, and bar stools. He also co-founded studio Geckeler Michels, partnering with brands like Fredericia and Karimoku New Standard.
