Jessica Hans

American artist and ceramicist Jessica Hans is celebrated for subverting conventional ceramic traditions through raw, organic textures and spontaneous painterly motifs. Based in Philadelphia, Hans graduated with a BFA in ceramic design from the Maryland Institute College of Art, exploring the intersection of functional pottery, fine art sculpture, and tactile craft. Hans achieved widespread design prominence through a celebrated homeware collaboration with Danish brand HAY. Her signature Jessica Hans Vase series—comprising the Miro and Shadow vases—is hand-modeled with intentionally uneven silhouettes, tactile ridges, and expressive monochrome brushwork. Handcrafted in earthenware, her pieces capture the raw energy of bespoke studio ceramics while functioning as everyday tabletop centerpieces.
