Martin Solem
Norwegian furniture designer Martin Solem (b. 1981) is recognized for bringing structural logic, material curiosity, and democratic accessibility to Scandinavian design. Beginning his career with hands-on cabinetmaking before earning a master’s degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (KADK), Solem worked alongside master designer Cecilie Manz before founding his studio. Solem gained international design prominence through his fruitful collaboration with Danish brand HAY. For HAY, he developed the Kofi coffee table collection (co-designed with Pierre Charpin and Jonas Trampedach) and the streamlined Pett tray system. His work balances traditional solid-wood craftsmanship with smart industrial packaging and flat-pack logistics for modern life.
