Description

The Seto Stool by Fredericia is an elegant, cross-cultural masterpiece designed by Japanese designer Keiji Takeuchi that strikes a flawless balance between proud Scandinavian and Japanese craft traditions. Heavily influenced by the historic design philosophy of Børge Mogensen—specifically the material mood of The Spanish Chair and The Canvas Chair—this stool derives its distinct identity from its absolute simplicity, airy transparency, and profound understanding of heritage woodwork. Its architectural standout feature is a geometric H-structure crafted from sustainably sourced solid oak, a structural profile that pays direct homage to the graceful silhouette of Japan’s longest bridge, the Seto Ōhashi. This robust timber frame encapsulates a non-removable, thin yet durable canvas seat finished with refined leather cord detailing, creating a striking contrast between the sturdy wood base and the flexible woven textile. Measuring 54 cm wide, 35 cm deep, and 43 cm high with a matching 43 cm seat height, the made-to-order piece is available in light oiled or black lacquered oak finishes paired with natural or black canvas options.
