ND110 Trisse Sofa Table

The Trisse ND110 Sofa Table from Fredericia Furniture takes the highly sculptural, monolithic architecture of Nanna Ditzel’s original 1962 design and explicitly rescales it for the lounge environment. It entirely bypasses slender metal pedestals or traditional four-legged framing in favor of a continuous, deeply turned geometric volume. Built entirely from solid oak, the table is shaped identically to an oversized wooden spool. Rather than relying on visible brackets or complex external joinery, the heavy top, central column, and base are mechanically secured through a concealed internal steel thread. This construction strategy gives the piece significant physical density—weighing roughly 6.1 kilograms—ensuring it acts as a grounded, unyielding anchor in front of a sofa without requiring a massive exterior footprint. Measuring exactly 55 centimeters in diameter and dropping to a relaxed 42 centimeters high, it maintains a highly condensed footprint scaled specifically for tight living rooms or localized reading corners. The deeply undercut central column functions mechanically to hollow out the visual mass of the cylinder, preventing the heavy wooden table from appearing like an impenetrable block. This organic, waist-like indentation allows light to pass directly underneath the overhanging surface, maintaining visual transparency across the floor plan. Because the piece is built entirely from solid timber—frequently finished in raw soap, natural oil, or smoked treatments—it demands very little specialized maintenance. Stripped of fragile veneers, glass inserts, or delicate skirting, the wooden construction is engineered to physically absorb daily wear, naturally weathering and developing a rich, localized patina over decades of use. It is a quiet, hardworking fixture that relies entirely on uncompromising organic geometry and raw material weight to dictate the flow of a seating area without introducing visual clutter.
