Tage Klint & Klint Design Team
Danish designer and entrepreneur Tage Klint (1884–1953)—alongside the collaborative Klint Design Team—was the visionary catalyst who transformed the Klint family’s hand-pleated lampshades into a world-renowned lighting institution. In 1943, Tage formalized the family craft by founding Le Klint in Odense, inventing the patented elastic collar ring that allowed folded shades to attach securely to standard lamp bases. Together with the in-house design team, Tage authored foundational icons of Scandinavian lighting. His defining triumph is the Model 1 and Model 2 lampshade series, alongside the iconic Model 12 pendant. Preserving unique hand-pleating traditions practiced by master pleating artisans ("foldepiger") in Odense, the design team developed a geometric vocabulary using treated paper and anti-static plastics that diffuse light softly without glare.
