Studio Kaksikko

Helsinki-based design studio Studio Kaksikko—founded by Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters—is celebrated for an elemental, quiet design language that bridges Finnish functionalism and Japanese craft philosophy. Meeting while studying at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, the duo combines ceramic studio craft with refined cabinetmaking. The studio gained prominent international acclaim through fruitful partnerships with leading Nordic design houses. For Danish brand Muuto, they designed the understated Ridge Vase—an architectural earthenware and terracotta vessel defined by vertical fluting and subtle integrated finger notches—alongside the functional Tub Jug and Kumu accessories. They also collaborate with Japanese ceramic workshops and develop minimalist timber furniture for Nikari and Skagerak.
