New Works
Library Shelf - H190 X W163.5 X D30.5 Cm
Oak | Black
The Library Shelf by New Works takes a highly adaptable, architectural approach to wall storage. Designed by Knut Bendik Humlevik, the system relies on a minimal framework of painted aluminum wall brackets paired with wood veneer shelves. It avoids heavy, enclosed cabinetry in favor of an open structure that mounts directly to the wall, freeing up the floor beneath it. The construction is purposefully honest, utilizing flat, knurled stainless steel screws to secure the shelves, adding a subtle industrial detail to the clean lines.
Its defining practical feature is the integration of angled bookends directly into the shelf supports. Rather than relying on separate, heavy bookends, the metal brackets naturally cradle books and records securely in place. Because the system lacks a solid backboard or bulky side panels, the wall behind it remains completely visible. This keeps the room feeling relatively light, allowing the unit to blend quietly into the space rather than visually dominating it.
Since the system is modular, it is built to evolve and grow with your space. It can start as a compact floating shelf and later expand into a sprawling, wall-to-wall library setup. Available in finishes like warm oak, rich walnut, and stark black ash, it is a versatile storage solution that prioritizes straightforward utility and understated geometry.
