Danish cabinetmaker and industrial designer Hans Sandgren Jakobsen (b. 1963) is celebrated for bringing supreme lightness, structural honesty, and poetic restraint to wooden furniture. Beginning his career as a master cabinetmaker before studying industrial design at the Danish Design School, Jakobsen worked in Tokyo before establishing his studio in Grenaa. Jakobsen gained prominent recognition with the award-winning Viper room divider and the stackable Gallery Stool for Fredericia. His design language draws deep inspiration from American Shaker furniture and Japanese minimalism, evident in delicate solid-timber seating, dining tables, and storage created for FDB Møbler, Lightyears (Fritz Hansen), and Japanese furniture houses like Asahikawa.
