Description
The Finn Juhl Poet Sofa designed in 1941 is a masterpiece of Danish Modernism that showcases a unique sculptural form and intimate proportions. Originally presented at the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition, the sofa was created for Finn Juhl's own home and represents his shift toward organic, art-inspired furniture design. The piece is characterized by its smooth, upholstered body that seems to defy traditional structural logic, featuring a high, curved back and integrated armrests that create a protective cocoon for two people. Its name was coined in 1950 after it appeared in a popular Danish comic strip about a young poet, solidifying its place as a cultural icon. The interior is meticulously handcrafted using a solid wood frame and high-quality upholstery techniques to maintain its refined, fluid silhouette. The sofa is supported by four slender, tapered legs available in oak, walnut, or black painted finish, which provide a light and airy appearance. Its design emphasizes comfort and proximity, making it a popular choice for both private living rooms and high-end hotel suites like those at the AC Hotel Bella Sky. Dimensions are 136 centimeters wide, 80 centimeters deep, and 87 centimeters high, with a seat height of 38 centimeters. Each piece is produced by House of Finn Juhl to ensure the original craftsmanship standards are met, often featuring hand-sewn buttons that can be customized in contrasting colors to highlight its playful personality.
