Patricia Urquiola
Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola is an unstoppable creative force in international design. Born in Oviedo, Spain, and educated under Achille Castiglioni at the Politecnico di Milano, Urquiola set up her Milan studio in 2001. Her work radically shifted contemporary furniture design from austere functionalism toward sensual, tactile warmth, unexpected textures, and generous domestic comfort. Her prolific portfolio spans industry defining partnerships with Moroso, Cassina, B&B Italia, and Flos. For Moroso, she created the iconic Fjord armchair and woven Antibodi lounge. For B&B Italia, she reinterpreted traditional tufting with the Tufty Time modular sofa system, while her Tatou lamps for Flos merged perforated polymer craft with delicate ambient lighting. Since 2015, she has also served as Art Director for Cassina. Urquiola merges architectural rigor with artisanal craft, crafting emotive modern classics built for lived in luxury.
