Danish design duo byKATO, established in 2010 by Karl Rüdiger Rossell and Tonny Glismand, is celebrated for revitalizing mid-century Nordic woodworking traditions through a contemporary, industrial lens. Grounded in formal backgrounds in carpentry and product design, the Aarhus-based studio approaches furniture from the inside out, prioritizing structural integrity, tactile materials, and honest joinery that withstands daily use. byKATO achieved widespread international recognition through their long-standing partnership with heritage Danish manufacturer Andersen Furniture. Together, they developed the acclaimed KATO sideboard and storage collection, alongside the versatile T1 and T3 extendable dining tables and the minimalist S1 storage system, merging laminated surfaces with solid wood accents. The duo has also conceived seating and tables for Danish brands Bolia and Cane-line, showcasing their knack for clean architectural proportions.
