John Astbury

British-born, Stockholm-based designer John Astbury is celebrated for a quiet, foundational aesthetic that explores archetype, proportion, and weight. Trained initially in anthropology and sociology in England before studying product design at Konstfack in Stockholm, Astbury approaches objects as cultural artifacts built to endure. Astbury gained international recognition through fruitful partnerships with leading Nordic design houses. For Danish brand &Tradition, he conceived the Column Shelving system, the Geppetto storage series, and the architectural Tung Table—a monolithic side table cast in glossy ceramic inspired by sea buoys and maritime posts. For Swedish lighting brand Pholc, he created the minimalist Bounce and Apollo luminaires.
