Friso Kramer & Wim Rietveld
Dutch industrial pioneers Friso Kramer (1922–2019) and Wim Rietveld (1924–1985) formed an influential design partnership that defined post-war Dutch modernism. Collaborating at manufacturer De Cirkel in the 1950s, the pair rejected bourgeois luxury in favor of democratic, mass-produced furniture engineered with industrial efficiency. Their collaborative masterpiece is the iconic Result Chair and matching Pyramid Table (1958). Designed utilizing lightweight cutout and bent sheet steel paired with molded plywood seats and surfaces, the collection offered exceptional structural rigidity with minimal material waste. Widely used in Dutch schools and institutions throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the series was successfully reissued by HAY in collaboration with Ahrend.
