Finn Juhl

Finn Juhl was born on 30 January 1912 in Frederiksberg, Denmark. While contemporaries such as Børge Mogensen and Mogens Koch followed the principles of Kaare Klint, Finn Juhl chose his own path, developing a distinctive and expressive design language. His unconventional furniture was widely criticised in the 1940s and 1950s, particularly within the industry. Yet it was Finn Juhl who became one of the key figures in bringing Danish design, or Danish Modern, to an international audience. His global influence was cemented when he designed the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, completed in 1952.
