Alfred Homann
Danish architect and industrial designer Alfred Homann (1948–2022) was renowned for a rigorous, understated aesthetic rooted in simplicity, clarity, and structural logic. A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Homann established his Copenhagen studio in 1978, working across architecture, interior spatial design, and industrial hardware with an exacting attention to functional detail. Homann achieved international renown through enduring collaborations with prestigious Danish manufacturers. For Louis Poulsen, he conceived defining architectural luminaires, notably the iconic Nyhavn Wall Lamp—originally created for his own studio renovation in Copenhagen—as well as the Kipp post top and the Homann Wall light. In furniture, he developed the AH Outdoor Series of untreated teak tables and seating for Carl Hansen & Søn, alongside celebrated seating systems like the Ensemble collection for Fritz Hansen.
