Rune Krøjgaard and Knut Bendik Humlevik

Danish designer Rune Krøjgaard and Norwegian interior architect Knut Bendik Humlevik are celebrated for their grounded approach to Scandinavian modernism, uniting architectural clarity with tactile, honest materials. Meeting during their architecture and design studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, the duo established an enduring creative partnership anchored in structural simplicity and functional comfort. Together, they played a formative role in shaping the design identity of Danish brand NORR11, where Humlevik also took on the role of creative director. Their standout designs include the iconic Mammoth Chair—a sculptural wingback lounge chair with an enveloping fluted shell—and the companion Elephant Chair, which references mid-century Danish classics while softening them with inviting curves. Their portfolio spans the ribbed Line lighting collection and the geometric NY11 dining series.
