The Locke Copenhagen designed by London-based practice A-nrd studio is a design-led aparthotel retreat housed in two striking modern rotunda towers within the vibrant Postbyen district near Copenhagen Central Station. The interior narrative themed Danish Design Pillars explores the tension between urban mobility and domestic serenity by blending Copenhagen's modernist design heritage with contemporary communal warmth.

The hotel features two hundred and thirty-four studio apartments split into thoughtfully planned residential layouts that prioritize flexible modern living. Superior Studios draw inspiration from functional Scandinavian minimalism with bespoke built-in kitchenettes utilizing every inch of the curved footprint alongside textured natural wood paneling. Penthouse Suites celebrate elevated urban living through expansive top-floor living areas along with sweeping panoramic vistas across Copenhagen’s harbor and Tivoli Gardens.

Public spaces are designed as an open-plan landscape defined without solid partition walls with the reception featuring striking sculptural timber joinery and curated botanical displays as a nod to Denmark’s deep affinity with the organic world. Specialized social zones include the signature restaurant LUQA for Mediterranean-inspired culinary gatherings and the leafy public garden which is a serene outdoor nook filled with native planting and flexible social seating.

The furniture is a mix of bespoke mid-century-inspired creations and tactile contemporary pieces with most banquettes, shelving units, and modular dining tables custom-designed specifically for this site. A notable collaboration with regional makers features lounge seating produced in warm bouclé and earth-toned upholstery exclusive to this property while bespoke integrated storage elements were developed to support both short and extended stays.

The design utilizes grounding organic tones such as pale oak, terracotta, sage green, and soft travertine across tactile wall plasters and textile patterns. Thoughtful architectural moments are curated throughout the property including micro-zones defined by sheer drapery and acoustic wooden fins. The ground-floor coworking lounge serves as a bustling communal hub for travelers and locals while fluted timber meets terrazzo counters, soft wool drapery, and polished concrete in the social spaces to emphasize a diverse material mix.
