David Thulstrup
Copenhagen-based architect and designer David Thulstrup is celebrated internationally for an approach rooted in structural honesty, spatial elegance, and sensory depth. After formative tenures in Paris with Jean Nouvel and in New York with Peter Marino, Thulstrup founded his studio in 2009. Gaining worldwide acclaim for designing the interior architecture of the celebrated restaurant Noma 2.0, he approaches furniture and lighting not as isolated objects, but as essential architectural components. His work is characterized by honest material juxtapositions, pairing industrial metals like brushed steel with tactile wood, woven rush, and warm stone. For Møbel Copenhagen, he conceived the renowned Font seating collection, defined by its curved, enveloping forms. His lighting designs, including the acoustic textile Isol luminaire for Astep and the pleated Petite Machine series for Made by Hand, balance technical clarity with atmospheric warmth.
