Bendtsen Design Associates

Vancouver-based industrial design studio Bendtsen Design Associates (BDA)—directed by Danish-Canadian master Niels Bendtsen alongside Giancarlo Stefani—is celebrated for an uncompromising commitment to structural honesty, technical precision, and refined minimalism. Rooted in Scandinavian cabinetmaking and industrial engineering, the studio approaches furniture as small-scale architecture. BDA is the creative and technical engine behind contemporary furniture manufacturer Bensen, while authoring milestone collections for international houses like Montis, Linteloo, and Restoration Hardware. Notable creations include the paper-thin Balance shelving unit, the precision-milled Radius dining table, and the modular Sofa systems. Their designs are distinguished by concealed internal hardware and immaculate timber finishes.
