Michael H. Nielsen

Danish furniture architect and master cabinetmaker Michael H. Nielsen is recognized for bringing traditional woodworking disciplines, sustainable materials, and refined ergonomics to contemporary living. Apprenticed as a cabinetmaker before earning a degree in furniture design, Nielsen approaches every design through the tactile behavior of solid wood. Nielsen achieved prominent recognition through extensive design collaborations with Danish furniture house Bolia. His defining works include the Graceful dining table series—an award-winning solid-wood table collection celebrated for an unbroken surface grain, angled apron lines, and slender outward-slanted legs—alongside the Tuk occasional tables and functional wall consoles. His designs prioritize FSC-certified European oak and walnut, visible mortise-and-tenon joints, and flat-pack logistics.
