Erik Buck
Danish industrial designer Erik Buck (1923–1982, also spelled Erik Buch) was a distinguished figure of mid-century Scandinavian modernism, celebrated for fluid wooden lines and ergonomic integrity. Trained in Copenhagen, Buck developed a deep appreciation for the natural properties of rosewood, teak, and oak. Buck achieved lasting fame with his seating designs for prestigious Danish manufacturers like OD Møbler (Oddense Maskinsnedkeri) and Christiansen. His defining triumph is the Model 61 Barstool (1961), characterized by an organic curved seat that appears to float above slender tapered timber legs. His portfolio also includes the sculptural Model 49 dining chair, curved sideboards, and extendable dining tables engineered with understated joinery.
