Aldo Ciabatti

Italian designer and entrepreneur Aldo Ciabatti (b. 1939) is recognized for shaping the modern visual landscape of Mediterranean outdoor living. Based in Arezzo, Ciabatti developed a minimalist, highly durable design language centered on industrial steel and wire mesh. Ciabatti is best known for his prolific, long-standing collaboration with outdoor specialist EMU. His defining creation is the Ronda chair—an international benchmark of outdoor seating engineered from tubular steel with an expanded metal mesh seat and back. Built to withstand demanding weather and commercial use, his stackable chairs, armchairs, and tables have furnished public piazzas, terraces, and cafés worldwide for decades.
