Afteroom Studio

Founded in Stockholm in 2012 by Taiwanese-born design duo Hung-Ming Chen and Chen-Yen Wei, Afteroom Studio approaches furniture and spatial design with an unwavering philosophy of quiet minimalism and geometric honesty. Influenced by the functionalism of the Bauhaus and the restraint of Scandinavian design, the studio creates objects that age gracefully by stripping away excess ornamentation until only structural necessity remains. The studio gained international prominence through its defining partnership with Danish brand Audo Copenhagen (formerly Menu). Their celebrated Afteroom Chair reimagines early modernist seating with a slender powder-coated steel frame, a circular seat, and an offset graphic backrest. Their catalog extends to the minimalist Afteroom Coat Hanger, counter stools, and lounge seating, balancing rigorous proportions with tactile warmth and understated everyday comfort.
