Christian Dell
German silversmith and industrial designer Christian Dell (1893–1974) was an essential pioneer of early industrial lighting. Apprenticed as a master silversmith before heading the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar (1922–1925), Dell pioneered the transition from craft experimentation to mass industrial production. Dell achieved immortality through his iconic Kaiser idell lighting collection (1931), manufactured by Gebr. Kaiser & Co. and produced today by Fritz Hansen. Led by the celebrated Model 6631-T Luxus table lamp, the design features a patented swivel ball-joint and an asymmetrical domed reflector shade embossed with his hallmark. The collection remains a global benchmark of the Bauhaus aesthetic.
