Ulysse Martel
Montreal-based industrial designer Ulysse Martel is recognized for an exploratory, conceptual practice that investigates geometric balance, physical motion, and structural reduction. Graduating with a Bachelor's in Industrial Design from the Université de Montréal and a Master’s from the prestigious ECAL in Switzerland, Martel works across lighting, furniture, and gallery installations. Martel gained international recognition through collaborations with forward-looking design manufacturers, most notably Montreal lighting atelier Lambert & Fils. His defining creation is the Hutchison lighting collection—a family of architectural pendants inspired by acoustic terracotta ceilings, pairing repeating arching geometries with diffused LED modules. His independent furniture prototypes explore sheet-metal tension, hidden counterweights, and pure geometries that challenge conventional structural hierarchies.
