Nipa Doshi & Jonathan Levien
London-based design partnership Doshi Levien—founded in 2000 by Nipa Doshi (b. India) and Jonathan Levien (b. UK)—is celebrated for a hybrid language that synthesizes vibrant Indian visual culture, traditional craft, and industrial precision. Meeting while studying at the Royal College of Art, the duo unites tactile narrative with ergonomic geometry. Their breakthrough collaboration with Italian design house Moroso yielded contemporary icons like the My Beautiful Backside sofa and the Paper Planes chair. For Kvadrat, they developed architectural curtain textiles and the playful Upholstery concepts. They have also authored the sculptural Uchiwa lounge chair for HAY, modular systems for B&B Italia, and elegant luminaires for Flos.
