Stefan Diez
German industrial designer Stefan Diez is renowned for pushing the technical and ecological boundaries of product design. Trained as a cabinetmaker before studying industrial design under Richard Sapper at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, Diez later worked with Konstantin Grcic before founding Diez Office in Munich in 2002. His work is defined by circular economy principles, lightweight engineering, and 100% disassemble-to-repair construction. Diez has conceived landmark products for leading international manufacturers, including e15, HAY, Magis, Vibia, and Thonet. For HAY, he developed the acclaimed New Order modular storage and shelving system, as well as the rope-tensioned Boa Table. His celebrated lighting projects include the flexible, conductive-textile Plusminus system and the glass-led Guise collection for Vibia, alongside the bentwood 404 Chair for Thonet.
