Sam Murley
British furniture craftsman and designer Sam Murley is recognized for an elemental, materials-first approach centered on solid hardwoods, bespoke hand-cut joinery, and sustainable British woodland resources. Operating from his workshop, Murley approaches furniture as small-scale architecture that should directly express the tree from which it was milled. Murley gained acclaim within bespoke furniture and contemporary craft circles for small-batch dining tables, architectural credenzas, and sculpted seating. Utilizing locally harvested, wind-felled English oak, ash, and walnut, his pieces feature hand-planed surfaces, exposed through-tenons, and subtle chamfered edges that celebrate authentic wood grain and natural movement. He rejects synthetic sealants, treating each piece with natural oils and waxes.
