Barcelona-born industrial designer Joan Gaspar is celebrated for bridging engineering precision with poetic atmospheric light. Trained at the Escola d’Arts Plàstiques i Oficis Artístics in Barcelona, Gaspar joined Spanish lighting manufacturer Marset in 1996 as product director, fundamentally shaping the brand’s aesthetic identity through meticulous material research and functional clarity. Gaspar is renowned for transforming industrial materials into warm, intimate light sources. His most celebrated creation, the Ginger collection, challenges wood's natural limitations by using high-pressure molded layers of wood and paper to craft an ultra-thin, glare-free luminous disc. Other award-winning designs include the molded-polyethylene Soho luminaire, the transparent polycarbonate Atlas lamp, and the portable Chispa lantern.
