British industrial designer Samuel Wilkinson is recognized for an inventive, detail-driven approach that combines tactile craftsmanship with dynamic mechanical function. Graduating in furniture and product design from Ravensbourne College in 2002, Wilkinson worked for prominent consultancies before establishing his London studio in 2008. Wilkinson achieved global design acclaim with the revolutionary Plumen 001 light bulb—the world’s first designer low-energy bulb—which won the Brit Insurance Design of the Year. For Danish brand HAY, he created the faceted Halftone wall light and the understated Luff series. His extensive portfolio also includes the woven Grace outdoor collection for Emu, mouth-blown glass lighting for Brokis, and timber chairs for Alki.
