Danish designers Johannes Foersom (b. 1947) and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen (b. 1943)—founding partners of Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD—are towering figures in contemporary Danish furniture design. Establishing their Copenhagen studio in 1977, the duo merged classical cabinetmaking roots with advanced industrial ergonomic research. The pair earned global renown for their long-standing partnerships with leading Nordic furniture manufacturers, notably Lammhults and Cane-line. For Lammhults, they authored iconic public seating landmarks including the Campus Chair—one of Sweden's bestselling contract chairs—the Archipelago bench system, and the Newport series. For Cane-line, they pioneered all-weather outdoor weave collections utilizing durable synthetic fibers.
